I-58 was a Japanese B3 type submarine in World War II. She was laid down on 7 September 1944 at Yokosuka, Japan. She entered service on 4 December and was assigned to the 15th Submarine Squadron, commanded by Lieutenant Cmdr. Mochitsura Hashimoto. Shortly after her maiden voyage, her 140 mm L/40 11th Year Type Naval gun was replaced by equipment to carry four Kaiten manned torpedoes.
After this modification to a Kaiten mother ship, she departed Kure on 31 December 1944 with Kaiten torpedoes, but did not encounter any enemy ships. Her catapult and aircraft equipment were then removed in order to enable her to carry and launch up to six Kaiten manned torpedoes.
She successfully supported the 762nd Naval Aviation Squadron in their navigation to Ulithi Atoll for their kamikaze attacks. She then returned to Kure. On 31 March 1945 she joined to Operation Gen 5th and sailed to Okinawa, but she did not have contact with any enemy ships. She returned to Kure on 30 April 1945. She departed Hirao to patrol the eastern Sea of Philippines on 13 July 1945, under the command of Captain Mochitsura Hashimoto. During the patrol mission she damaged the SS "Wild Hunter" with Kaiten, 28 July 1945; she sank the USS Indianapolis on 30 July 1945, using 6 regular torpedoes.
She was scuttled off Gotō Islands, Japan on 1 April 1946.
